Coil binding allows books to open completely flat and rotate a full 360 degrees, making it an ideal solution for notebooks, manuals, planners, and workbooks.
We offer both plastic and metal spiral coils in a wide range of colors and diameters to suit different page counts, design preferences, durability requirements, and budgets. Each coil can be precisely matched to your book’s final size and thickness. Below are some commonly used coil options.
Plastic coils are lightweight, flexible, and available in many color choices. They are widely used for creative, educational, and everyday projects thanks to their durability, cost efficiency, and resistance to bending or crushing.
Metal coils provide a more refined and professional appearance. Available in black, white, silver, gold, and other finishes, they offer excellent strength and a clean, polished look, making them ideal for corporate, presentation, or premium publications.
Our spiral coils are available in plastic and metal with diameter ranges from Ø 6–50.8 mm (approximately 1/4″–2″), with a recommended maximum book thickness of 3.4–42.8 mm (approximately 0.134″–1.69″). For smooth page turning, we recommend selecting a coil slightly larger than the finished book block to avoid compressing the pages.
Planning Guide (80 gsm offset interior paper):
Softcover: Recommended maximum finished thickness of approximately 40 mm (≈ 1.57″), or about 800 pages.
Hardcover: Recommended maximum finished thickness of approximately 42 mm (≈ 1.65″), or about 730 pages.
Actual page capacity may vary depending on paper caliper and finishing options. Be sure to include the front cover, back cover, tab dividers, pockets, and any laminated pages when calculating total book thickness.
