For children’s sound books, durability and print quality are equally important. We typically use white cardboard or gray cardboard as the core material to ensure the book can withstand frequent use by young children. These sturdy boards help resist tearing, bending, and rough handling, while still supporting vibrant, full-color printing that keeps illustrations bright, engaging, and long-lasting.
For self-cover sound board books, the cover is made from the same material as the interior pages, creating a cohesive and integrated structure. This is usually achieved by mounting two laminated sheets of C1S paper together, back to back, resulting in a thick, smooth, and child-safe surface. This construction method keeps the book lightweight yet strong, making it easy for small hands to handle. For hardcover sound board books, we use a rigid 3mm gray board wrapped with 157gsm coated paper, which adds extra strength, improved stability, and a more premium, gift-quality appearance.
The interior pages of sound books are also produced by mounting two or more sheets of C1S paper together to form sturdy board pages. Common paper weights include 250gsm, 300gsm, and 350gsm, allowing flexibility based on the desired thickness and budget. This layered structure provides a solid feel, supports embedded sound modules securely, and ensures the pages remain durable and attractive throughout repeated use.
