Lift-the-flap Book Printing

Lift-the-flap books are primarily designed for children, making durability and safety top priorities. At BookPrintingChina, we typically produce board books using white coated one-side (C1S) paper, also known as white cardboard. This material provides a smooth, high-quality printable surface on the coated side, while the uncoated reverse allows secure mounting. During production, we bond two or three sheets of C1S paper together on their uncoated sides, with the artwork printed on the coated surfaces to achieve vibrant, eye-catching colors. A glossy or matte lamination is often applied to protect the artwork, enhance durability, and provide a smooth, child-safe finish.

Occasionally, we also use heavier 250–350 gsm coated paper or 180–200 gsm uncoated paper depending on the project. Flaps can be made from the same material as the interior pages or thicker stock for added durability, depending on your design needs.

For the cover, the material depends on the binding style. Self-cover board books use the same material as the interior pages. For hardcover board books or case bindings, the cover is typically made from 3mm gray board wrapped with 157 gsm coated paper and finished with glossy or matte lamination for a sturdy, high-quality, and visually appealing result.
